Caribbean Stud Poker Rules

Caribbean Stud Poker is a poker game which doesn’t have very much age to it yet and has it’s origins from the Caribbean Islands. The poker game is really simple to learn, but can be a difficult game to win much money in unless you play the progressive jackpot each hand. So make sure when you play Caribbean Stud that you spend the $1 to participate in the progressive jackpot or else you might regret it a lot when you would have won perhaps thousands of dollars on a royal flush or a straight flush.

At the start of every hand before any cards are dealt out each player at the table needs to place an ante bet into the pot. If you’re going to play in the progressive jackpot then you also need to place your $1 in the correct spot before the dealer calls out “No More Bets”. After the dealer has called out “No More Bets” he/she will begin to deal out five cards to every player face down. The dealer will be dealt five cards as well, but the fifth and final card will be dealt face up for everyone to see.

Once the PokerStars.com dealer is done dealing out the cards to each player the players will be able to look at there five cards to see how good there hand is. If you want to play your hand then you need to put in a bet which is twice the size of your ante. If you don’t want to play the hand then you can fold your hand away at this point and you would lose your ante bet. If you decide to play the hand and pay the bet then the dealer will flip over his/her hand to see what they have. In order to be paid on the hand you must not only win the hand, but the dealer must have a qualifying hand of A/K or better. If the dealer hand does qualify and you win the pot then you’ll be paid out as followed.

* Royal Flush – 100:1
* Straight Flush – 50:1
* Four of a Kind – 20:1
* Full House – 7:1
* Flush – 5:1
* Straight – 4:1
* Three of a Kind – 3:1
* Two Pairs – 2:1
* One Pair or Lower 1:1

If you play the progressive jackpot and you have a hand which wins then the dealer doesn’t even need to qualify for you to be paid out. The payouts are as followed for the progressive jackpot.

* Royal Flush – 100% of the jackpot – Straight Flush – 10% of the jackpot
* Four of a Kind – $500 – Full House – $100 – Flush – $50

The progressive jackpot only costs you $1 and the jackpot can range all the way up into the six and seven figures so it’s definitely worth it to play the jackpot when you play Caribbean Stud. Since the dealer needs to qualify in order to win the hand bet it makes it difficult to make much money that way.
